about
Telling Myself
« Originally called Aiwa because of the old boom box I used to work on, Telling Myself always had a late 70s N.Y.C disco vibe. The pitch for the lyrics was already there, but seeing the movie « Call Me By Your Name » kinda helped me frame my ideas and gave me a backstory. This is the first song producer Julien Vignon worked on, and it set the mood for the rest of the record. »
lyrics
Telling Myself
I keep telling myself, telling myself,
That you’re too good for me
I keep selling myself, selling myself short
When I shouldn’t be
‘Cause it’s always the same, always the same shit
Going through my head
I just can’t keep up with you
Please help me make it through
Chorus:
What is wrong?
This feeling like I don’t belong
What’s so right?
Every little bit about last night
Sometimes I want it
Sometimes I wish it would end
‘Cause it’ll just make me sad
But there’s something about you,
Something about you just keeps me goin’
I just can’t keep up with you
Please help me make it through
I keep needing your touch, asking too much,
It’s new to me
And I’m playing as if, acting as if I was
My worst enemy
‘Cause it’s aways the same, always the same shit
Going through my head
I just can’t keep up with you
It’s just too good to be true
Chorus:
I keep telling myself,
Telling myself that you’re
Too good for me
I keep selling myself,
Selling myself short
When I shouldn’t be
Sometimes I want it
Sometimes I wish it would end
‘Cause it’ll just make me sad
But there’s something about you,
Something about you just keeps me goin’
Something about you just keeps me goin’
I keep telling myself, telling myself,
I keep selling myself, selling myself short
When I shouldn’t be.

Java
